HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) — In the Patroon League this season, it's been Chatham...and then everybody else. To say the Panthers have "dominated" in 2023 would be doing a disservice to the gaudy numbers they've posted. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! So, here's the numbers: En route to a 17-0 record, Chatham has outscored its opponents 269-to-13. And no, neither of those numbers are a typo. From the first coffee houses in the Ottoman Empire to Boston's London Coffee House, cafes have always been an egalitarian place to gather, sip, and share ideas, many of which have changed the world.During the Enlightenment, cafes would regularly entertain the likes of Voltaire, Rousseau, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and Isaac Newton. Later, Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre would spend hours in cafes, pondering their works and holding court alongside other intellectuals.Needless to say, coffee and cafes beget some revolutionary ideas; sipping a cup may even be a political act. When settlers dumped tea into the Boston Harbor to send a message to the British empire, tea became a British loyalist's drink, and coffee became a popular substitute. Unsurprisingly, Boston's London Coffee House opened in 1689, was soon renamed the American Coffee House. Later on in Philadelphia, Merchant Coffee House, also known as the City Tavern, would host the likes of George Washington, Tho...As Palisade’s Sami Feller navigates rookie season with Chicago Red Stars, long drives leading to pro career were worth it

Sami Feller admits she doesn’t want to know how many hours of her life were spent making the eight-hour round trip between Palisade and Denver. It’s a drive she made countless times throughout high school and her college career at the University of Denver — a hallmark of her commitment to reach the highest levels of women’s soccer. And despite going undrafted after a stellar run with the Pioneers, it all paid off this spring when the Chicago Red Stars offered her a three-year contract to play in the NWSL.“My senior year of high school I got another car and since then I’ve put 150,000 miles on it,” Feller told The Post in a phone interview last month. “The miles that I’ve put on my current car — it would probably make me sad with how much I’ve spent driving.”Few college scouts make the drive to Grand Junction, nor anywhere else along the Western Slope, to find hidden gems. John Fogerty was in the mood to celebrate.“I’m so happy to be back at the Mountain Winery,” the 77-year-old Creedence Clearwater Revival founder exclaimed at the start of his sold-out show on Friday night. “As you may have heard, I’ve got my songs back.”Thus ends a decades-long publishing rights battle for some of the greatest songs in rock ‘n’ roll history, a tussle that has certainly seen some bizarre twists over the years — including John Fogerty being basically being sued for sounding like John Fogerty by the then-owner of the CCR songbook, Fantasy Records.Yet, victory was finally had in January as Fogerty was able to acquire a majority interest of the worldwide publishing rights to “Proud Mary,” “Down on the Corner,” “Fortunate Son,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” and the other songs he authored as the leader of CCR back in the ’60s and ’70s.And he’d certainly make great use of those...Growing concern over abduction rate of young Black girls in Oakland
