The extraordinary was the nature of the event itself—the first-ever federal arraignment of a former president. The mundane was that the day proceeded largely as expected, with little new being learned about the case and little drama at the court itself. The charges pertain to Trump's possession of sensitive documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Related charges, including one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice, also carry the threat of significant prison time if convicted. COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Automatic external defibrillators, or AEDs, could be placed in nearly every school or sports and recreation venue in Ohio under a proposal that cleared the Republican-dominated House Wednesday with overwhelming bipartisan support. The legislation, sparked by the sudden cardiac arrest of Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin in January on the field during a football game in Cincinnati, would require that all public schools, municipally-owned sports and recreation locations such as gymnasiums and swimming pools, and some private schools have on-site AEDs. It cleared the chamber on an 84-6 vote.Current Ohio law allows school districts to require AEDs on site, but it's an elective decision that's left to individual districts.State Rep. Adam Bird of New Richmond, one of the bill's sponsors, said he's confident many districts already have AEDs, but making it a requirement can help further protect students. Under the bill, employees would be required to undergo special tra...Parents of girl who drowned at Kansas City water park file lawsuit

By Mark Stevenson | Associated PressMEXICO CITY — Benito the giraffe arrived in Mexico’s arid northern border city of Ciudad Juarez just last month, and already the climate appears to be a problem — and he’s only had to deal with the scorching heat of summer. The snow and freezing temperatures of winter are still to come, and animal activists are up in arms and pushing a campaign under the hashtag “Save Benito” seeking to have the animal moved somewhere more hospitable. On a recent day, the 3-year-old male giraffe could be seen crouching with only its head under a small, circular canopy for shade. The structure did little to protect him from a pelting rain and a hail storm later. There is also a small shed for winter, but activists say it is cruel for the city-run Central Park to keep the giraffe in a small fenced enclosure, by himself, with only about a half acre to wander and few trees to nibble, in a climate he’s not used to.“We have been fighting...Latest news
