Dish Network to lay off more than 500 workers in Colorado

DENVER (KDVR) — More than 500 Dish Network employees in Colorado will be affected by layoffs in upcoming weeks, a company spokesperson said on Wednesday.Notices about the layoffs have been filed with the Colorado Department of Labor and the mayoral offices in Englewood and Littleton, a Dish spokesperson told FOX31's Rob Low. The network is based out of Englewood."Like most businesses, we continually evaluate and make adjustments to ensure we're set up for long-term success," Meredith L. Diers, with Dish corporate communications, wrote in an email. "We made the difficult decision to part ways with some team members due to changing business demands on some teams. Impacted employees will be notified by the end of the week."Diers said the company would not disclose the exact numbers of layoffs, but "over 500 employees have been impacted in Colorado." LONE TREE, Colo. - The family of 73-year-old Mike Lohmeier are asking for the public's help to find whoever shot and killed Mike back on Saturday near Park Meadows Mall. “The bullet came in through the driver’s side window," Marilyn Lohmeier-Howland, Mike's younger sister said. DENVER (KDVR) -- The Colorado Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that it is planning new Bus Rapid Transit routes on some busy Denver streets.Bus Rapid Transit is a program designed to make buses more reliable, quick, convenient and accessible than traditional bus services, according to a press release from CDOT. It does so by giving buses priority over other travel modes and adding bus-only bypass lanes. (CNN) — Cruise, General Motors’ self-driving vehicle subsidiary, has recalled all 950 of its autonomous vehicles for a software update. Late last month, Cruise paused all its public testing operations while it investigated the incident that led to the recall.GM had announced Monday that it was pausing production of test versions of the Cruise Origin, a self driving vehicle GM and Cruise designed jointly with Honda. The Origin has no steering wheel or pedals and is not currently operated on public roads. GM characterized the production stop as reaching the end of a planned limited production run of test vehicles.
