CHICAGO — After an offseason full of changes and the usual anticipation during training camp, the regular season opener has arrived for the 2023 edition of the Chicago Bears. This year, it begins with their biggest rival making their way to Soldier Field with a big change at a key position. HANCOCK, Mass. (NEWS10) -- The Massachusetts State Police announced they are investigating a fatal shooting that involved a state trooper. At 7 a.m. on September 9, a MSP trooper responded to an emergency call at a residence on Richmond Road. Upon arrival, the trooper located a man at the home who had reportedly been armed. According to police, the man did not back down following the trooper's requests to desist, resulting in the officer discharging his service weapon. Police say emergency medical personnel attempted to treat the man for his injuries, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene. ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. - A new Missouri law allows counties to approve property tax breaks for senior citizens. St. Charles County could become the first in the St. Louis region to approve such tax breaks. According to a news release Friday, the St. Charles County Council could approve a bill as soon as Monday that allows for property tax freezes as soon as next year. The legislation also ends state taxes on Social Security benefits starting in 2024. To qualify, according to the bill, residents of St. Charles County must be at least 62 years old by Jan. 1, 2024. The county also adds that the tax freeze would "not apply to ad valorem taxes levied for the payment of bond indebtedness or the state blind pension fund." A family-owned business in L.A. County is reeling from a robbery that has left them close to shutting their doors for good.
