Apple says it will fix software problems blamed for making iPhone 15 models too hot to handle Apple is blaming a software bug and other issues tied to popular apps such as Instagram and Uber for causing its recently released iPhone 15 models to heat up and spark complaints about becoming too hot to handle. The Cupertino, California, company said Saturday that it is working on an update to the iOS17 system that powers the iPhone 15 lineup to prevent the devices from becoming uncomfortably hot and is working with apps that are running in ways “causing them to overload the system.”Instagram, owned by Meta Platforms, modified its social media app earlier this week to prevent it from heating up the device on the latest iPhone operating system.Uber and other apps such as the video game Asphalt 9 are still in the process of rolling out their updates, Apple said. It didn’t specify a timeline for when its own software fix would be issued but said no safety issues should prevent iPhone 15 owners from using their devices while awaiting the update.“We have identified a few co...

Tupac shooting investigator: Keefe D 'talked himself into prison' (NewsNation) – Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the man now charged with murder in the death of Tupac Shakur, admitted in a 2019 memoir and in media interviews that he was in the car from which gunfire erupted during the drive-by in Las Vegas that killed Shakur 27 years ago. Greg Kading, a retired Los Angeles police detective who spent years investigating the killing, believes Davis has “talked himself straight into prison.”"The strength of this prosecution lies solely on the confession that Keefe D has made since 2009," Kading said during Friday's edition of "Banfield" on NewsNation.Davis has long been known to investigators as one of four suspects identified early in the investigation into the 1996 killing. Davis isn’t the accused gunman, but was described as the group’s ringleader by authorities Friday at a news conference and in court. In Nevada, a suspect can be charged with a crime, including murder, if they help someone commit the crime.“Duane Davis was the shot-caller for this group o...

Pandemic hangover forces used car shoppers to buy much older cars (iSeeCars) -- A combination of restricted used car supply and inflation has forced buyers into much older used cars over the past 4 years. Buyers with a $23,000 budget could purchase a 3-year-old car in 2019, but that same amount is not enough for an average 6-year-old used car today. The reduced production of new cars in 2020, 2021, and 2022 is now reflected in limited used car availability and dramatically higher prices.iSeeCars.com analyzed over 21 million used cars sold in 2019 and 2023 and found that the average age of used cars sold increased from 4.8 years to 6.1 years, while the average price across all ages increased from $20,398 to $27,133.Summary: Today’s late-model used car shoppers have to buy cars more than twice as old as what the same money bought them in 2019$23,000 Bought a 3-year-old used car in 2019, but today $23,000 won’t even buy a 6-year-old car Limited production of new cars in 2020-2022 is reflected in the scarce availability of 1- to 3-year-old u...

Rockies Journal: Nolan Jones is most valuable, Kris Bryant most disappointing

Rockies Journal: Nolan Jones is most valuable, Kris Bryant most disappointing It’s not easy to dish out awards for the 2023 Rockies, given that they own the worst record in franchise history and lost 100 games for the first time. But I’ll give it my best shot. Most Valuable Rockie: Rookie outfielder Nolan Jones gets the nod over rookie shortstop Ezequiel Tovar and veteran catcher Elias Diaz. Yes, Tovar plays a more impactful defensive position, and Diaz caught more games than anyone in Rockies history and also was the MVP of the All-Star Game. But Jones’ breakout season — at the plate and in the outfield — is worthy of strong consideration for National League rookie-of-the-year honors. What’s more, he provided some of the most exciting defensive plays and longest homers of the season.Jone’s MVR statistics are compelling. Among major-league rookies with 400 plate appearances, Jones entered the final weekend of the season tied for first in average (.290) and ranked first in on-base percentage (.383), slugging (.535) and OPS (.918).
