West Seventh businesses in St. Paul petition to join Downtown Improvement District A series of West Seventh Street businesses have petitioned to join the St. Paul Downtown Improvement District, a dues-based business association that employs greeters, or street team ambassadors, and provides services like trash and graffiti clean-up.It likey will take several weeks for the St. Paul City Council to officially approve the new district boundaries up to Grand Avenue, which come with financial considerations for businesses within the area. Still, some services already rolled out on May 1 through leftover grant funding provided last year by the Knight Foundation.Those services include a link to the downtown Safety Communications Center, a civilian public safety hub in the 401 Robert St. building that works closely with St. Paul Police as it coordinates private security teams. Free Narcan training offered in Middle Grove MIDDLE GROVE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Saratoga County is holding a free Narcan training and distribution event on Thursday, May 11. Naloxone, sold under the brand name Narcan, is a safe medication that can save someone’s life by reversing the effects of an opioid overdose. In the Narcan training, participants will learn how to recognize opioid overdoses and how to use nasal Narcan. Participants will also receive a free Narcan rescue kit, which includes two doses of Narcan, a rescue breathing face shield, a certificate of training, a drug disposal system, and a mental health and substance use disorder resource guide. Those who are unable to attend the distribution can register to obtain an overdose rescue kit at the Saratoga County website.

(NEWS10) -- According to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office, a Stockbridge man was sentenced to five years probation with conditions after pleading guilty to several charges. Joseph Smith, 45, pleaded guilty to several charges stemming from a 2020 investigation involving pictures of an underage female. According to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office, the 2020 investigation looked into illicit images of a person under 18. The victim in the case had previously been in a relationship with Smith. Officials say Smith contacted the victim years later, sending her pictures he had taken during the relationship and shared them online. Kansas physician admits to role in telemedicine fraud scheme ST. LOUIS (AP) — A doctor from Kansas admitted Tuesday to a role in a telemedicine fraud scheme for unnecessarily ordering genetic testing and orthotic braces, defrauding Medicare of about $16 million.Gautam Jayaswal, 64, of Overland Park, Kansas, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud. He could face up to five years in prison and must repay the money.The U.S. Attorney's Office in St. Louis said Jayaswal contracted with several companies from 2017 to 2021 to work as a telemedicine doctor. His plea agreement stated that Jayaswal fraudulently ordered orthotic braces for 1,433 patients, and companies he worked for used those orders to defraud Medicare of nearly $1.4 million.The plea agreement stated that Jayaswal also signed orders for medically unnecessary genetic tests for 2,061 patients, costing Medicare Part B about $14.7 million.

Colorado Rapids to renovate north terrace at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, add field-level outdoor patio and seating The Colorado Rapids are planning further renovations to improve Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, the team announced Wednesday.The north end terraces of DSGP will be redeveloped into a new section called “The North Boundary,” which will feature field-level outdoor patio seating. Renovations began Tuesday and the project will open to fans on the annual Fouth of July home game. When completed, the terrace’s capacity will more than double.The project was designed by Denver-based planning and landscape architecture firm StackLot, and will be built by national-based Turner Construction.
