JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri flags are flying at half staff this Sunday to honor fallen Hermann Police Department Detective Sergeant Mason Griffith. He was shot and killed during an incident at a gas station on March 12. A funeral for the officer is being held this weekend.Flags at government buildings in Gasconade County will be at half staff on March 19. Acting Governor Mike Kehoe gave the order. A former Denver Police sergeant facing felony sex charges after online exchanges with a person he thought was a 14-year-old girl has pleaded guilty under an agreement allowing a four-year deferred judgment, and faces sentencing next week, according to Jefferson County authorities.Prosecutors negotiated the split-plea deal with former police sergeant Tim Hyatt, 45, who pled guilty on Jan. 23 to attempting to commit sexual assault on a child, authorities said. The deal gives the deferred judgment, subject to conditions of supervised probation for adult sex offenders, authorities said. Actor Lance Reddick, perhaps best known for his role on "The Wire," has died at the age of 60, according to TMZ and the Los Angeles Times.Reddick's body was found in Studio City at about 9:30 a.m. Friday, TMZ said. A woman was fatally struck by a suspected hit-and-run driver in Highland Park Friday morning.The crash was reported around 9 a.m. in the 5600 block of Aldama Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.Police blocked off the street in the residential neighborhood and a canopy was set up where the victim was killed, aerial video from Sky5 showed.An LAPD unit was also stationed in the parking lot of a nearby grocery store.Neighbors told KTLA the victim was a woman in her 60s who lived on Aldama Street. It would also shield doctors from having to pay fines. And it would let California doctors sue anyone who tries to stop them from providing abortions.The bill would only protect doctors who are in California. If a doctor left California to provide an abortion to someone in another state, that doctor would not be protected.
