SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- In the latest retail closure in San Francisco's downtown and Union Square neighborhood, the LEGO Store closed its location at the San Francisco Centre last week, KRON4 has confirmed. The winter holidays typically bring out the best in people, with more giving to charities. But they also bring out the worst, with scammers stealing donations that are intended to help the less fortunate.With Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa nearing, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is warning about charity fraud.The FBI suggests giving to established charities or groups whose work you know and trust. DENVER (KDVR) -- The Denver District Attorney's Office issued a warning Monday morning for residents who may have been called by someone who appeared to be using the office's phone numbers to scam people out of their money.According to the DA's office, impersonators have called Denver and Jefferson County residents claiming to be investigators from the respective DA offices. The callers will insist on meeting in person so the call recipient can provide money for an outstanding warrant. DENVER (KDVR) -- The Winter Park Express will return for its seventh year in January 2024.The route drops people off at Winter Park Resort and runs from Denver's Union Station using Amtrak's California Zephyr route.The trains will run to and from Winter Park Resort on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Jan. 12 through March 31. There will also be two extra roundtrips on Thursday, March 14, and Thursday, March 21.According to the resort, that makes a total of 40 trips, which is seven more than during the 2023 season.
